The Baltic Sea / Hel Peninsula / Poland / 14.06.2019

We came for a wedding. A wedding at the Baltic seaside on the Hel peninsula. A wedding like I’ve never seen before, but one I’m to remember for the rest of my life. A sandy beach, the sound of the sea, no tourists. The first, and as it turned out later, the only sunny day. As if a gift for them and for us. We’re building. The bridegroom and guests are building something like a gateway – an “altar” on the beach. The wedding is in two hours. Just enough time for a quick dip in the Baltic sea and voilà – we’re all ready for the wedding. In the morning, for technical reasons, I couldn’t get the missus to awaken and go shoot the picture stretched onto the frame. I was hoping to come across someone on the beach – someone who’d woken up early or someone who hadn’t yet gone to bed, and who would hold my frame with the picture. The second option proved to be apt. And so began my adventure with the frame.

Montenegro / 13.07.2011

We drove into Montenegro in off-road cars with tents on the roofs. Freedom in the air, mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers. An expanse that takes your breath away. This is the beginning of a promising adventure.
Strong as steel, slender as a reed, Ola Gerlach fighting the Baltic Sea while holding the frame.
Each photograph used during the journey stops being luggage, changes its destiny, takes on a new life. It creates a unique travel sack with a story in the background. Always just one. One shot, one sack. Luggage (no excess)
